The last weekend of September is here and as the days get shorter, so too our our activities outside. It's time to head into the work shop, it's time for Weekend Modeling Plans!

I'll be starting off my weekend tomorrow morning by helping my club get some wiring done on our new yard modules. Construction on these modules started when I was still living in New Jersey and were 70% when I joined up with N-Trak of Bloomington Normal. Our goal is to have the modules done in time for Milwaukee Trainfest. Our club has a show in nearby Cisco IL in October that I need to get my T-Trak modules spruced up, so that may happen later in the afternoon. With the days getting shorter, this maybe the weekend to do my annual ritual of cleaning Jess the Railfan Jeep and giving her a good dose of the clay bar and wax in prep for winter. Sunday will be family day as we head to a soccer game in nearby Bloomington.

I have one more airplane show in early November that I'm working on. After that, work on the B&M N scale layout will resume. I am not looking forward to the massive land moving and track realignment, but authenticity is the name of the game. My goal is to have at least one side "done" so I can display it at Galesburg next summer.

So how about you? Do you plan on helping out your club with module work? Open house season is here, how many will be doing that this weekend? Diesel detailing? Scenery? Whatever your plans, let us know. We'll all get together on Monday October 1st and see how we all did. Until then, work safe and...

Diesel detailing it is. I've got one more F7A that needs a gazillion tiny holes drilled for grabs. That will probably be a Sunday afternoon project in front of the football game. Once that's done, I can decal that one and the one that got grabs last week, and that project will be done.

I've got two big fall projects planned. The first is the carfloat apron and the float itself over in Mooseport, and the second is the Empire Tanning Company (or whatever I decide to call it) at the other end of the Phase 2 shelf. I need to do some benchwork for the carfloat, as the apron and float will extend out into what is now an aisle. The float will be on a drop-down shelf, as it will narrow the aisle a lot and be awkward to work around. For the tannery, I need to build a liftoff to cover what is now an access opening. I've got a big piece of paper with the existing trackwork marked in, and templates for each of the structures, but that's as far as that project has gone.

But, Jim's right. It's getting cooler, and the weather forecast has cool temperatures and showers. Modeling weather. I love the fall in New England.

I was going to take a trip over the weekend, but since it's going to rain i'm going to stay home and build a couple of T-Trak modules for a few of my fellow club members who asked me to build them. I'll take my trip during the week when all the weekenders have gone home.

Now that the contractor is done with the earthwork and the rockwall down by the road, it's time for me to move more rock and dirt on the layout. Forecast is for a shower late this afternoon, but three days of sun and cloud after that .... with rain on Tuesday. Suits me fine!

And in between re-rendering a few of the videos which YouTube, with their peculiar compression, couldn't digest in 1080p - artifacts and audio glitches.

More buildings and more scenery. I'm really getting back into it.
