The weekend is slowly approaching, at a snails pace for some. We can fill the void between now and Friday night by shareing what is on our list of Model Railroad projects this weekend.

Not to sound like a broken record, but since I'm working for the magazine this weekend, I'll be in airplane mode. Giant scale airplane mode to be exact, meaning all model airplanes flown at this event must be 1/4 scale or larger or have a wingspan on 80" (mono-plane) or 60" (bi-plane). I actually have a plane for this, a Navy N2S, (Let's see how many Navy guys know what that is!) but I'll be working a booth both Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps I'll sell some of my unused stuff that will help me with the project I hope to start this winter on the 6X3 B&M layout. One interesting note: I have had a lot of great conversaitions with RC Scale fliers on Model Railroading at these events. I've even sold subscriptions for our sister publications, Railroad Model Craftsman and Railfan & Railroad. Scale is scale wether it be trains, planes or automobiles.

So how about you? What does your list look like this weekend? Will you and your crew be working on track or wiring? Hoow about scenery or maybe some structure kits? Whatever your plans are this weekend, let us know, of course the option of pictures is always open! We'll come back on Monday the 26th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happyy and safe weekend and...

I do have the weekend off, more or less. The weather should be delightful, so I hope to take one and maybe two bicycle rides, but there will still be plenty of time. I may just haul some modeling supplies outside and sit at the table on the deck. I've got windows to install in two of the tannery buildings, and walls to assemble in another. One building is mostly done. There will still be interior details and roofs to install, but at least I'll have structures I can place. This assembly-line building is sort of tedious, and I'll be happy to get to some detailing after it's done.

I had one of those "life's little interruptions" things on Wednesday - the water heater went out, and, since Penny is still in Florida caring for her parents, I ended up staying home and waiting for the repair guys. With time to kill, I decided to decal the covered hopper that will deliver salt to the tannery.

The Salzburg Salt company is made up. I took the recording marks from another hopper of the same size and typed them in, and then turned out decals on my computer. The castle is downloaded clip-art. The hopper itself is a Bowser undecorated kit which I painted with Reefer White.

Salzburg, Austria, is best known as the home of Mozart, but "Salz" is the German word for salt, and the city is founded on a large salt deposit. Salt mining started there back in caveman times, and their museum contains many artifacts dating back ten thousand years or more, including shells from the Mediterranean showing that there was significant long-distance trade going on even then.

I'm off to the Bedford (PA) N scale weekend. That will be enough.
