With this week over, I am reminded that Summer is about done as the back to school commercials are running at a steady rate.

This time of year always finds me smack in the middle of airplane shows. While I do not have any this weekend, I do have some almost every weekend for the next two months. This combined with the fact that I cannot get cork roadbed or Atlas code 55 track means the rebuild of my layout probably won't start until October. With a train show coming in September however, I would like to work on my T-Trak modules some.

So how about you? Do future shows have you preparing modules or your layout this weekend? What kind of projects do you hope to accomplish this weekend on your model railroad? Let us know, with pictures if you have them. We'll all get back together on Monday the 12th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

I have one more set of grab irons to fab and install for the BQ23-7 project, then it's off to paint. I need to start the dress-up for my KCS SD40-2, and I think I have my last sticky track wicket solved as well. Now to get the Honey DO's off the plate . . . .

This is sales-tax-free weekend in Massachusetts. I've got a pre-order in for a U28B locomotive, which won't get here for another 2 months, but I'm going to pay for it tomorrow to avoid the tax. I'll pick up some other stuff too, mostly paints. I'll be doing the same at the hardware store, where I buy my larger rattle cans of spray paint.

Then, I'll be picking up a new microwave oven to replace the one that died last week, and installing that, and I hope to get out for a bicycle ride, too. But, there should be time to continue working on the tannery structures and rail cars. I've got one of the buildings mostly assembled, but I need to paint the roof and add some brick strips inside the roof parapets. It's got a big door, too, so I'll be putting some machinery inside, but that will happen later.

I may take a look at the lighting in my Rivarossi passenger cars. These used to work, and I think the problem is the poor connection between the trucks and the contact plates on the body. I probably need to pull the cars apart and run wires to the trucks instead of relying on these contacts.
