As July winds down, we find ourselves ready to embark on another modeling weekend. The Midwest Prototype meet is this weekend in Collinsville IL. I plan to go there for at least one day during the weekend. The time not spent in Collinsville will be spent organizing my storage unit/work space since the temps have cooled down to 80. I've gathered all of the items I need for my realignment of my south end of Potter Place. If I have time, this maybe the weekend that project starts. How about you? Do you have any major work that needs to be done to your layout or club module? Any shows or clinics you plan to attend? Maybe some time in the work shop installing some DCC in your locomotives is in order? Whatever your plans may be, let us know. Tell us what your plans are and don't be afraid to ad a picture. We'll come back on Monday the 30th and see how we all did. Until then... High Greens!
I'm jealous of those of you who have train shows to go to. Here in New England, the rail scene is kind of empty. But, I did finally get my static grass applicator in the mail. I've done a few small sections with it, trying out techniques. It works, but all I've got for now is small Woodland Scenics static grass flock. I think I need longer pieces to get this to look the way I want it to. My LHS doesn't have longer flock, and even Walthers doesn't carry it. Hopefully, the other shop up north will have some.
train show in San Antonio, TX (well Live Oak but still San An) attempt my first stain on wood i plane on using to make a pier, continue to lay track for the main yard, and turn on the trains!
I am heading to San Antonio with some NTRAK modules for a SAMRA train show. I will hook in with clubs from San Antonio, Austin and Houston.
No modeling this weekend. I have a load bearing wall being removed Monday, so I have to reroute the electrical circuits and move the thermostat for the heat and A/C that are running through the wall.
Going to try to finish so SP head end passenger equipment. Also going to do some research on logging railroad for some future projects.
As mentioned in Weekend Logging/Mining Plans, I will be doing some 1:1 activities around steam boilers. I don't know if it counts as modeling when it's really more a reenactment, but activities will include a steam powered sawmill and an ex-SPMW steam powered crane.
I'm out of town this weekend so there will be no layout progress. Hoping to check out a hobby store tomorrow, I need things to work on next week in the hotel room.
