It always seams to me that Summer weeks and weekends go faster than those of any other time of year. With that said, it's time for Weekend Modeling Plans!

Vacation time has finally come for me and the family. I have not had a true vacation in a while. We plan on going to my home state of New Hampshire and seeing family and friends as well as get our fill of seafood and sites. This of course is also an excuse to show Jared and Angela the very town that I'm modeling in N scale, Potter Place. The former B&M Northern main line is now a very nice bike path and since all three of us are bringing our bikes, it will be a great way to explore the line I'm modeling in N. Besides this, some train spotting will probably occur. A stop to Conway Scenic Railroad is in order as well as some classic B&M and Maine Central Depots. Hopefully a relaxing time, but no real modeling per say.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend on your miniature pike? Track work, DCC, maybe installing some more trees or buildings? Whatever your plans are this weekend, tell us all about it, with pictures if you have them. We'll all get back together on Monday the 15th and see how we did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

I assure you this will get to sound like a broken record (Transition Era term) but I'm going to be working on the Tannery once again. I've got the walls of two of the four buildings assembled and painted, but they've still got to be mortared. I'm doing some research so I can make interiors that have some relation to a real tannery. As part of that, I leaned that tanneries use salt and acid, so I've been able to get two freight cars I've always wanted an excuse for - a covered hopper (Bowser kit, on order) and a chemical car, the Athearn "Hooker Chemical" model I picked up on eBay. A couple of days ago, I put Kadees and metal wheels on the chemical car, and it's already in service, looping around until it's got somewhere to go.

I may not get much train work in, though. We'll be visiting our daughter in Maine on Sunday, and I've got a broken garage door spring and some other minor tasks for Saturday, along with watching the Tour de France.

Going to drop by Lowe's and pick up a 2" sheet of foam insulation board and start scenery base construction on level #2 of the layout. I have a plan in my head that I sketched on a napkin and pinned up on the layout, so I'm ready to go!
