Hard to believe isn't it? Why does my favorite time of the year go by so fast? Well to many, the Labor Day weekend is the bookend to the summer season, but it does signal cooler days and a new season of train related activities. Let's see how we are all starting off. Saturday: A tradition with Angela and her Dad that I missed last year, the annual Hoopston Sweet Corn festival. We'll get up early and head to her home town for an afternoon of a classic car show, fair like atmosphere, fried food and yes of course, sweet corn. Her Dad will have his Mustang at the car show so we'll hang out with him then head to his place after the show to enjoy some much needed down time. Sunday: It is supposed to rain here and we'll have domestic things that must be done. I'm hoping to get to my favorite hardware store to get a few supplies I need for my B&M layout. Work on the layout is going smoothly. I was able to start laying down the track to fix my earlier blunder and hope to have that done by Sunday. With the arrival of my new to me Atlas HO B&M GP7, I may even try to build a FreeMo module or two. We'll see. Labor Day: It really depends on the weather, I'm sure a cook out will be in order. I really want to finish a gas station I started last year for the B&M layout. It is an older City Classics Brass walled service station. I would like to get it painted and ready for decals so it is done for the Decatur Train Fair. So how about you? What do you have planned for this unofficial end of summer? Let us know. We'll come back on Tuesday, September 3rd, to see how we all did. Until then, have a happy, safe and hopefully fun Labor Day extended weekend and as always... High Greens!
I hope to continue my F unit project -- moving on to the next set - SP DF-2 F3's As well as work on my photography track. I have the 1"X4"X24" piece of pine cut. Cork and track are glued down. Next is paint the track, add ground cover and ballast, then add a back drop. Y'all have a great and safe weekend!! Wolf
Tomorrow I'll be at a football game most of the day. Sunday and Monday will be in the trainroom and/or workshop. Goals.. [/snicker, we'll see how far this gets] are: Finish brick signal cabin (except for exterior stairs, they will take a while due to brass/soldering) Put down track to the future coal mine run. That will clear me to go ahead and build table top for the mine run. Maybe prepare a stock of "puff-ball" trees for hillsides. Work on a few cars Have a safe and great holiday weekend all.
Everyone have a safe , sane, and careful weekend. There will be a larger number of disasters on our roads this long weekend. I will be working on my diorama and should complete it, so I can install on layout next week. Here are 2 images of last nights work: Stay safe this loooong holiday weekend, Carl
Research is nearing its end for my WWII airbase module. This weekend my Air Force will grow. Four P47’s, two B24’s, one B17, and one B29. Labor Day I will return to the air base museum to glean the last of the information I need then it’s time to start building structures. I still need to draw up two building plans. I now have plans for the depot needed. They are scans of designs drawn in 1909 but I have them. Let’s see what happens.
I got my first Container Ship completed. Will be used on OPS https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/the-old-port-shop.125242/ Best, Sven
Had plans. But experienced a nasty allergic reaction, to something as yet undetermined. So just recovering and otherwise all plans went astray.
