I hope you all had a great weekend full of trains. Let’s see how we did. Saturday: has become the day to get the chore of grocery shopping done. It takes a while because we live in the country, so once we get back, my mornings are generally over. With the threat of an ice storm looming over us for Sunday, I spent the rest of the day in the garage getting kerosene heaters fixed up in case of a power loss. Sunday: was the day I had wanted for a while. I was finally able to sit down and write about the layout for both a thread I started in the N scale forum as well as the 2018 Winter Layout Party. I still have a lot more to post and after this week, there will be a flurry of activity as I spend my time building more modules and getting track work done. Not to mention I’m also building a 1/32 scale slot car track on the side. See? Television is overrated! So how about you? What did you get done this past weekend? Let us know. We’ll all come back on Friday the 12th to start off another weekend. Until then, have a great week, be safe and as always... High Greens!
I actually got some stuff done. After receiving some most welcome critiques and suggestions, I added end stripes to my "should have been" RDC. I also was able to do some much needed maintenance on my layout. I had some turnout issues that were resolved by changing out a throw rod (2 turnouts) and replacing a throw bar (1 turnout). -- And, I ran a couple of trains. The RDC: Hope Y'all had a great weekend!! Wolf
I made four trees and when I tested them in the area I need them in, the trees were a little out of proportion. Since I am going with a little forced perspective in that corner I need to rethink my trees. I was using an old Christmas tree and wreath. So today I spent time on you tube and I think I found a replacement. Now to hit the hardware store or Walmart. They both carry the supplies needed.
SP Wolf, that RDC looks awesome! I built a base for the Nn3 Christmas display. It has to fit on top of a small server in the dinning room so it is only 41x16 1/4". The frame is old door stop stock This was my first experience with Gorilla Glue. Building the base took a little longer than expected. Removing the glue from my hands took a lot longer than expected. I wound up using a woo woo woo file on my fingers. I think I'll stick with good old aliphatic resin based wood glues in the future.
Looks like my previous post was censored. Was this done by software looking for certain words or by a moderator? I used the correct name for the type of file. It's stamped on the file and listed on Wikipedia. Not a big deal, no feelings hurt, just curious.
we do censor certain fowl words automatically, as well as some well known retailers that are not sponsors. shoot me a PM if you have any questions about this.
