Good morning, good evening, where ever you may be. It’s time once again to gather around and discuss what we have planned for the weekend.

Saturday: Work then date night. After that I’ll get everything lined up for Sunday.

Sunday: I’m really hoping to work in the garage so I can build a new control panel. Unfortunately we went from hot and humid to freezing in a matter of a few days. I really need to get a heater for my garage/woodworking shop. I’m still cleaning, organizing and working on both rooms that house layouts that were essentially abandoned when I went back east last year. I hope I’m nearing the end of that.

So how about you? How many are going to Trainfest? Let us know. We’ll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, enjoy the weekend, have fun, be safe and as always...

    Continue with my F3 project.

Mask - then - black paint.

    Where I left off:

    Start applying decals.

    Y'all have a great weekend!!

tonight - tinkering with my new N Scale IM SD40-2. First sound loco on the layout, and I want to spend some quality time getting it set up correctly.

Saturday - likely benchwork building while waiting for the Big Box delivery people to show up with our new washer and dryer. Maybe railfanning Saturday night if the weather allows, though there is this minorly important sporting event going on that night as well (Geaux Tigers!).

Sunday - a visit to the Gulfcoast Model Railroad Museum in Gulfport, MS for their fall railfest.

Not sure what I will get done tomorrow and Sunday. Tomorrow will going to the Raleigh, NC Scale Train Show in the morning. Hopefully I score some goodies. Tomorrow afternoon and night will be football game. Clemson comes to town to play NC State. I am hoping that game isn't over by the 1st quarter.

Sunday I will work on the trains some. Either wiring or work, or a hidden siding, or some structure work. Whatever hits me.

    Have a great weekend all.

Like Kitbash, I'll be at the Raleigh train show Sat. Most of the time jawing with the folks at the Sippin and Switchin or hanging at the Wildwood Station table either demoing the ESU systems or giving Bill a break, so he can walk around. Another year before I can build a new layout, so I'm trying - TRYING not to buy too much until then.

Hoping to finish my first hopper. It needs corner braces, couplers, a trucks. maybe brake wheel and associated platform. Stirrup steps are unlikely. Hope all have a great weekend.

Looks like a repeat of last weekend. Off to TN to work on the parents house clean up and hopefully some more work on scenery and ground cover on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Starting to sketch out drawings for my benchwork and repositioning of furniture in the train room. The layout is L-shaped, will roll on casters and has to clear book shelves and a small dresser underneath, so a lot of precise measurement is needed.

I keep looking to do some scenery work with a water feature but so much football, yard work(I enjoy), dinner with friends, and etc....Then again whats the hurry. Once college football ends and the temps are more tolerable I will make progress.

This is my first modeling effort in 7 years! Yes, I reached burnout when I was promoted at my day job in 2012, so I quit making kits for MTL, and quit modeling due to all the weekend and overtime I was putting in. A year ago I retired, a month ago I got a workbench up, and I am now planning my retirement layout. I have a 20' x 16' train shed that I will be building my Z Scale layout in, and the first model up is the Northern Pacific Lester WA 2 story depot:

It's not finished and has a few flaws. After painting I discovered that I installed the stationmaster's residence door upside down. See the doorknob on the upper right side of the door?

I'm waiting for some square plastic tube in 2mm and 3mm to arrive so I can make chimney's, and I need to make the heating oil tank for this side:

I just finished the shingles last night, so next I need to make the roofwalks, ladders, and water barrels for the roof:

Here is what I started with for designing this model, a combination of photos of someone elses larger scale model and some prototype photos I found on the web. I also have the NP 3rd Class 2 Story Standard Depot drawings to get the correct measurements:
