From Mile post 116 on the mighty BNSF Transcon, just out side of La Rose, Illinois. Good morning, good evening, wherever you may be, it’s time for a special Memorial Day long weekend! I’ve started my weekend early, as in 3:00am early to spend the first day off Railfanning the Transcon from Toluca To Galesburg Illinois. It’s been a busy day so far with about eight trains so far, two while I’ve written this. Let’s get this party started. Saturday: I need to do some yard maintenance, and by yard, I mean the backyard. I’ve started working on the B&M modules and will likely start the module connecting system tomorrow. I also may install a dedicated DC bus line to the Galesburg City Job Modules. I’m planning on doing this in the 2.0 version but I’ll use this as an excuse for proof of concept. Surprises may show up for Galesburg this year! Sunday: Depending on how late my daughter and her boyfriend’s party goes, I might spend the day resting. I need to finish my Suburban Propane tanks for the mini modules so that may be Sundays project. Monday Memorial Day: no plans so far, but probably some much needed family time before the busy summer starts off. So how about you? What plans do you have this special weekend. Let us know. Next week we will return on Tuesday the 29th. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend, remember why we celebrate this weekend and hopefully like me, you’ll be on a main somewhere and see some... High Greens!
To all of our members that are or were in the service --- THANK YOU!! Now -- for my modeling plans -- none this weekend. A few of my friends and I are heading to Arizona for a few days. Heading back home on Monday. Y'all have a wonderful and very safe weekend!! Wolf
No real plans for this weekend. I would like to get back to the track planning and work on my roundhouse and museum though. I promised my wife a couple months ago I would start painting the house in June. Well it’s time to keep my promise and Monday will be spent at homedepot pricing out supplies and choosing paint colors. Hopefully I will get some modeling time on Sunday.
Took a vacation day to make it 4 days. Spent this AM helping the Mrs. prep the herb garden for the summer. Will probably be in the train room this afternoon. Some tomorrow, all day Sunday and Monday. This week I scored a surplus PC tower from our office IT director. He prepped it and got Windows 10 on there for me. This will go in my work shop dedicated to programming decoders, etc. Time permitting, I may get out of the train room and build up my programming station. So I'll be soon taking the plunge into JMRI Decoder Pro. I have a NCE Power Cab and PC to track interface unit, and all the other stuff to set it up. Just have to take time to do so. Happy and SAFE Memorial Day to all.
Nuthfin. Absolutely nufin. Mother in law in hospital. So plans may have changed. Well, maybe some modeling Tuesday.
Preparing a HCD for the trolley layout. Unpacking a DCC controller, learning what DCC is all about, and trying to configure a New Orleans RTA Trolley. Hoping girder rail, turnouts, and crossing will be delivered next week.
A day of ops with JMRI guiding us, then bringing my modules home. I am sure my friend's wife is ready for them to be gone after four weeks of our modules intruding on the house.
My wife's van started acting up Thursday on the way home from work, but I got it home. Oddly enough, she had already made a dealer appointment for yesterday to take care of some recall maintenance, so I sent along a list of what the issues were. They called with the estimate and it was expensive, but not surprising based on what I thought it might be. This morning I'll go pick up the van, do the back yardwork - quickie job, short and green - before the rain moves in. Then the plan is relax and trains. Might putz around with some minor chores, but I'm still in recuperation mode, so have to take it easy.
Hopefully make some more progress on the C & L Layout. I already converted it to 2 lines so I can have continuous running for 2 trains. Already added some mock up items to it to see if I like anything, although those item's are not in the photo, taken earlier today. Yard work for now, and when I cool down, hopefully some more mocking up! Apparently a storm came through when I wasn't looking At least I am having fun! Those 2 RED thing's on the floor under the stool are those Christmas extension cord's and I push the button with my foot for DCC controller power, and WS Just Plug light's. Best idea I ever had, so easy to turn power off and on now!
I shot my layout outside and I plan to work on my interurbans, about to buy Tomix chassis to power them
nope, I was nice and calm http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/playa-desnuda-in-the-sun.117405/
Well, I pulled the trigger and bought a pair of Tomix chassis from Japan...I have a pair of N Scale interurbans to build and power...
