I've had this Aristo Craft "Train Engineer" for quite some time now; it works very well in other scales, from 2 rail O down to N. Here it is, hooked up to a Marklin transformer. So far, testing shows it works just fine; does anyone here see a risk in using this for our delicate Z scale locos? It seems to me that, as long as the power source is "Z scale safe", it should be fine. Thoughts? Mark in Oregon
I could see problems with the Rokuhan controllers and their constant lighting signal, but I wouldn't expect pure DC to be a problem.
Any old source of DC will work. That said, I'm sure that beast will power Z scale engines sufficiently to fly off the curves and do the Evel Knievel Snake River Canyon thing, if not enough to smoke the motor outright. Can you exercise restraint with that red knob?
... ...since that "red knob" only goes up to 10V, and is a Z scale transformer, it seems it would be safe to use. I just wanted to double-check. Mark in Oregon
When running O or HO, I used a different power source; usually an MRC ControlMaster VI. I'm guessing this is safe to use, since I have not heard otherwise... Mark in (chilly) Oregon
