I just visited N-Scale Supply's site where the posted complete photo's of the 2 new FT's.
There looks to be some pluses and minuses to both manufacturers, but I think I like the Intermountain best.

You can see both the shells and the mechanism's side by side.
Look at the comparisons here: http://www.nscalesupply.com/imr/imr-mtl-fts.html

Which do you like best and why?

From going by the photo's only it looks like Intermountain did a much better job on the shell than MT did. Two things I do not like about the MT A unit shell is the seem in the nose that is not polished out and the use of decals to simulate the numbers on the sides rather than have the raised number boxes [IMG] . Intermountain not only got these details correct but it looks like they did an excellent job in doing so. I really can't see any flaws in the Intermountain shells at all, the dynamic brake housing for the ATSF version is dead on correct and it looks like the GN version is correct for that road as well. One thing that doesn't look right on the Intermountain unit is the fuel tanks, they look to be a little too high between the trucks. This should be easy to correct if it is.

I have three sets of the Intermountain ATSF's on order so I will have a better idea in a week or two. One thing is for sure, I very glad Intermountain did the Catwhisker version first before MT did.

Not only does Intermountain look better detailed but it also appears to have more "meat" on the innards. Does anyone know the weight comparison on the 2?
I do not like having to number my own boards for the money that you are paying so I also give MT a minus for that.
I have not yet seen either set running though and I think that this is the true deciding factor!

I really appreciate your posts Daylight99, and your layout is awesome. This particular sentence has me confused though,
Is this what you intended to say?

Is this what you intended to say? </font>[/QUOTE]Nope, I looked at what I typed and it didn't sound right to me either. I went back and edited my text. Thanks for pointing that one out.
