I had someone asking me a couple of days ago. How are these units for installing DCC? So am wondering, has anyone here done this yet?

Installing DCC in the Intermountain FT is very easy.

    1. Unscrew the board from the frame and un-solder the red and black wires from the bottom of the board and the two headlight wires as well, sit the board and the screws aside for now. Used a small decoder like the DZ143 or similar and in the nice milled out area attach it with double faced tape

    2. Now use the two screws you removed from the board and screw the red wire FROM THE DECODER to the right side frame and screw the black wire FROM THE DECODER to the left side frame. This takes care of track pickup.

    3. Now attached the orange wire from the decoder to the red wire coming up from the motor and attach the gray wire from the decoder to the black wire coming up from the motor.

This is all that needed for the B units but to complete the A unit there is one more simple step.

On the board you removed you will see a small resistor, unsolder this resistor and solder it at the end of one of the two headlight wires, now solder the white wire from the decoder to the headlight wire with the resistor and solder the blue wire from the decoder to the other headlight wire. You now have a working headlight for the A unit.

    Bob-

I'll pass your hints along. Am sure he'll be happy to know that it is a simple task.

    Thanks!
