    Hello,
I'd like the opinion of this forum on how much worth it is to use the 8588 insulator for making a siding versus just the plastic conector and plus soldering two wires to power the track. I found the 8588 too clumsy, taking too much space on ground and I wondered if the home made wiring it would look better. Any thoughts ?
    Thanks,
    David.

    David,
I would tend to agree on the 8588. Soldering lead wires to the track isn't hard if you have a good temperature controlled soldering with a very fine tip. If you don't like soldering, there are a couple of manufacturers that produce rail joiners with a lead wire spot welded on.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark

I would not bother with the 8588 Just pick up a package of the insulated rail joiners and solder the wires on yourself.
