An idea is born, as we will team up to make an all-time index of TMR. ak-milw might give us permission to use his index, covering the years from 2002 on. If we could use that I'll do the years from 2001 down, inviting anybody willing to help to our effort by doing some more years.. Does this sound good? Michael

I finally joined in 1980, and my first issue was the first they mailed Spring of 1981. Back then, publishing schedules were often way behind... I suppose we should decide how to lay out the spread sheet? What headings? Well guy's, I am from the last century, I will get the information, following the guide lines above. Only thing is it with be hand printed. This old computor dosn't have any fancy spread sheets on it. I can scan my pages and e-mail them to whom ever can put them on what you need. If this is OK let me know, I will be glad to help!! One other thing, is this something we should let the Historical Society know about or are we OK just doing it?
Andy- I don't think we need to worry. I'm sure that anyone can do something like this for personal use. It doesn't infringe as nothing is reproduced, copied, etc, etc. It's more like written bookmarks. Boxcab E50

As to the MRHA, I think we should let them know as soon as we have the first version up and running. Kens suggestion of columns is a good start, because someday we could also do the various books and make an all-time photo index (...a distant dream....) I am in a situation where I have maybe two or three issues total, but would love to have access to a larger index so I can be a little more targeted in my search for back issues. I would be happy to enter some of this stuff in spreadsheets, ak-milw, if you have some legible photocopies or some scans that you can email. Let me know. I would then share this with others on TrainBoard who are interested, or I could merge it with other spreadsheet lists.
Just a thought- Is it worth listing Q&A columns, editorials, etc? To me, most people wouldn't be searching that often for any data in those areas. Omitting them could simplify the concept. Also, in thinking on this, I believe that a year should show first. So am looking at columns thus: Year Issue (Season & Quarter) Title (Some issues have a theme, others do not) Article Author Topic (A brief description) Page(s) Photo Photographer Description Page Anything else to consider? I don't have anything down solid yet, I was thinking about this idea the day Ken mentioned it. If someone could get a spreadsheet together like the way Ken has it set up, E-mail it to me and I can just fill in the blanks, maybe in MS word. Other wise I will start handwriting them out. I will get them out as soon as I have each quarter finished. I can see how it would go easier with a basic sheet for everyone to follow.
