Tom Baker, the main man responsible for the Casey Jones excursions, and countless other railfan trips over the NP in the 1950's and 60's around the Seattle area, has died at the age of 90. There was a big obituary in the Seattle Times today all about his love of trains and railfanning. He began as a volunteer on the excursions and was soon running the show four times a year. If you ever pick up a Warren Wing book, there are lots of pic's of them and even a video of the excursion going up to Snoqualmie Falls.
Kurt- I knew Tom had documented and written about the Casey Jones Trains. Didn't know he was also responsible for them. If I recall correctly, the first ones, and the original idea, came from a lady who lived in Seattle. Her name escapes me right now. However, it is noted on that video you mentioned. The video is sold by an advertiser here on TrainBoard. Greg Scholl. And is footage by Maynard Laing. Maynard was quite an interesting person. And I'll never forget him. So many people I've known, or knew of, have passed in recent years. It's making me feel old. Boxcab E50
Kurt- I just started my 55th year last week. Several bad injuries have taken their toll. So a creak and rattle a lot more than average. Funny thing is, with each passing year, I think back to, and miss ever more, things such as the NP, Milw & electrics, '57 Chevys, etc., etc. Boxcab E50
