After the comments received on my Small N-scale Layout I made an improved version, based on some comments. The changes (more or less): the yard area, the sawmill and the logging area. I also added numbers representing terrain height: in green the terrain in blue the track in black the road Paul
As I look at your trackplan, another thought comes to mind: The two curves on the left-hand side are awfully close together, especially since the outer track is going to cross over the inner track. You might want to pull the outer track to the left about an inch, maybe only a half, just so you can allow yourself some room for a retaining wall between the two levels. If you straighten out your yard a tad, you might find the room you need. Other than that, your plan looks great! Pat
Thanks Railery and Pat. As I plan to build this layout with Peco Flex, it will be easy to separate the left tracks a bit more. Paul
I think it looks good! I always liked the logging layouts, and this one looks like a fun little project. You have earned another Trappist!
Paul Check this plan for the bottom part of the layout. By changing some right hand turnouts to left hand, you can eliminate the S curves. See how a train going throught the station on either main line will only turn one way? The only S curves are in the crossovers and this can be eased by using longer turnouts - or at least going very slow. Note that this is in HO and the lines are 12" apart. Peco Medium Points.
Thanks Robert I' ll do cheers and wish you the best luck, when I drink that Trappist. Rob, You made a good point on changing the turnouts, I will include that in the final plan. Thanks, Paul
Assuming a 12" grid, my only comment would be that it may be difficult to work on scenery, track, etc. in the middle of the layout. 36" is quite a reach. Maybe you've got long arms though.... Aside from that....that's a very cool layout.
