Hi friends If your buying some FT's what brand do you plan on buying? My self I'm looking at what scheme's are bring offered rather than which of these is better. I have a feeling that both versions will look and perform excellent.
I agree that both should be excellent models; therefore, I've reserved two A/B sets from each. I model the NYC - they had two ABBA sets and so will I. The MT model will have the simple "as delivered" scheme, while the IM version apparently will have the later "lightning stripe" scheme with gray band. One reason I'm going for the full course is that I have been starved for quality F-units - I haven't been able to get even one Kato F3 or F7. NYC had hundreds of these. Kato says they won't be releasing more of theirs any time soon, as they can't schedule factory time to do so. Thus IM and MT will both get my money. Mike - NYC1956
In order to plan the expenditure of my minimal hobby budget, I need to know what is coming. When I contacted both I-M and MT some months ago. MT declined to give me any hints on what version FT. Or possible road names. On the other hand, I-M gave me road names for the first and second planned releases. At that time, amongst the second batch was planned to be Northern Pacific. Exactly what I am seeking. So, having no other choice, I must plan on the I-M version. BoxcabE50
Mike , I know someone in B.C. Canada who is selling some KATO CNR F7s' an A & B. They are painted in CNR sergeant stripes, black and white paint job. If you are interested let me know. He might also have a KATO CNR A & B unit painted in the CN green and gold scheme for sale, if I don't buy it.
I will go with whoever releases them in Great Northern (and I am a little partial to Northern Pacific as well) and that means Intermountain. I look forward to Microtrains doing a GN release in the future with (hopefully) different numbers so I don't have to bother with renumbering them. No Canadian roads had FT's and, as Great Northern is my U.S. road of choice then whoever releases them in that road has my vote. Cheers. Terry
