Helped my dad occasionally,he subcontracted on HVAC installations for over 30 year,yeah,sound gets annoying after a while.I just put a heat pump in my own house in place of the one that was there that wasn't working,limited places to put it to begin with,sound drives me crazy,can barely hear it,LOL!!..
I was not a fan of sound when it first came out but all of my loco purchases over the past year have had sound. I keep the volume medium to low and I do find it adds enjoyment to operations and the fact that they are ALCO's doesn't hurt either. I do have a cold storage building on the layout and one of those reefers would make a nice background piece.
I would guess from online announcements that Athearn is planning another release of these cars. Anybody heard from a recent Train Show know when that will be? Thanks Edit; Never mind Wig Wag shows them due out by Aug 15, 2015
