After looking on the Kitbashers group photos another thought in the product that would possibly capture more interest for the casual observer, for all of the deal of adding fans from BLMA, why not dessing the fans in place to begin with and while we are at it, why not make them spin........

Happened to meet yet another business acquaintance at a trade show last week. He mentioned he had seen my interest in model railroading somewhere on the net (think I put it in a profile of another website I visit) and confessed his interest in trains, with enthusiasm, about his childhood set, etc. Still does a few shows, occasionally watches trains, etc.

Couldn't pinpoint just why he never got involved again when asked. He is 40ish, kids, etc. Thought about it with his boys, etc., no action.

Based on these stories, I wonder if we could create some anti-inertia spray to get these guys who are actually interested back in the game.

In Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, some of the model railroaders have sponsored "Fun Run" events. They contribute funds to a charity. So need the support of a location that does not charge a use fee. Invite clubs and individuals to set up modular railroads of various scale to view. Allow visitors to bring a locomotive or train to run; even it they have to dig it out of storage. Not directly involved, but friend is coordinating this for March 28 and 29, 2015.

    Rick and all else.

It is up to us to promote our fun! Get outside of the industry/RR/model train shows. There are many other venues and opportunities, such as craft shows and flea markets and county fairs. Sure it takes time and effort to build a small portable layout, or sort out the stuff you would be willing to sell, or even just put up a video player of some sort and display some stuff and have some magazines to give away. Did one fleamarket last year and am going to do it again this year. Didn't sell but one thing, but I did talk to a lot of people about the hobby. There were lots of questions from a lot of different people. Had some Lionel stuff, HO and N stuff and a lot of railroadiana stuff and it all started many good conversations. PR in non-RR venues is as important as anything else, maybe even moreso!

Maybe I need to build a more portable little layout.......
