Howdy all!!!, I am sure some of you know that I went hulk smash on my helix,, oh well. I have this area on my layout that is in a corner, sure is alot of area. Trying to think what to do with it. While talking to Allen H, we were brainstorming back and forth. His suggestion was a car repair facility of some sort. My idea was some sort of manufacturing plant,, you know,, widgets or maybe snipe traps. So I came up with this idea. I have plenty of turnouts, but I am running low on flex track,, so I came up with this track arrangement. I figured that the tracks in the building are used for major overhauls and big repairs. The track next to the building could be used to empty tank cars that need repairs. Seeing that I have storage tanks there. Also could use a storage tank of cleaning solutions, which in turn would give me another type lading to use in my ops plan. The two tracks that are next to the tanks could be used as a staging area for the plant. For example cars that are awaiting repairs or that are done awaiting pick up. And lastly the curved track could be used by crews setting out cars the need to repaired,, or cars awaiting to be picked up to be put back in revenue service. Thoughts, ideas, questions? Fire away.
