I am looking for information (and pictures too) for the color schemes on ICG locomotives in 1983- 1985. Were they exclusively white and orange, or was the grey and orange also around at that time? Thanks for the help. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) http://www.geocities.com/revnjeff/index.html
Jeff, Besides the orange & white paint schemes ( - from what I've seen, grime & rust were standard colors as well) there were also orange & gray (coming out of Paducah on rebuilt GP11s) and all-orange, with black ICG lettering on the hood sides. I believe some of the Paducah rebuilds got the all-orange color, but it was a short-lived experiment. The orange & gray came out in the early 1980s, around the time frame you're referring to. Best bet to find out which motive power got what scheme would be either the IC Historical Society, or find some back copies of Extra 2200 South. Hope this helps......
