... NOT the 4th! These stomped right past me a few times, an I am STILL kicking myself for being caught off guard, without a camera! However, look what I finally got a camera lens logged onto!

Not the best picture but one of it...

I got a good close up of the cab, If I'm thinking right, this is the "First of Class" for the SD-80MAC's! #800... TO BAD  its not #801

A few switchers. I beleive them to be MP-15's, AC or not, I'm not so sure, as I haven't looked them up on the CSX photo archive yet....

Yeah Russ, I like the MP-15's myself, slightly different in their own sence from the older yard switchers..... I just had to get a few pictures of the ones I seen there!

I seen that BIG SD-80MAC an was like ohh no your not... I got you this time... "Hoping a Tornado didn't brew real fast an blow him away about 1 second before I snaped its picture" :D being, 3 different times an 80MAC past me up, 2 of those times it was CSX #801! But I got one at least so I'm happy!

    Great photos John.

I know what you went through. I am in pursuit of a NS MP15DC freshly painted in Norflok Southern colors. The locomotive has been at Abrams Yard in King of Prussia, PA for the last month and a half. The only two times it was in a location I could take a photo I didn't have my camera.

    Tom,
To be honest, I was tryin to get the CSX SD-80MAX #801, being its the last CSX loco to be painted bright future.....Thing is, it went right past me TWICE! without my camera, like just down the street from where I live being I'm on the CSX "Sand Patch grade" in Meyersdale, PA! An it pasted me by twice like that. Then another one that was an ex Conrail loco did it to make an SD-80MAC pass me 3 times.. Without my camera! The 4th time however the 80MAC's were fast enough! I was at the CSX yard in Cumberland MD an their sat #800 big as you please... I was like I got ya this time! :D To bad it wasn't #801, which is the goal... but its still pretty good I got the first of class with the #800 so... :D Now to catch the #801, an I'll be content!

    Harold,
I know! I got the first of class 80MAC if nothing else..... And yes, I wish I could carry a camera with me now at all times! Sadly the camera I used, wasn't mine! I had barrowed it to take some pictures of the stuff I've done in the shop so. an got lucky to go out railfaning the day before it went home! :D

almost immediately after CSX and NS split conrail. I saw SD80 pairs on about 90% of the trains that run through here. the last year I only saw one, 800 and it was dead in tow behind 2 SD40-2's  .

    Pat,
I will say, THEY ARE HUGE locomtives! I never got that close to one without it moving, an all an man, when moving they don't seem as big, it took some judgement on that picture to get the whole loco in the picture! But i can see what everyone ment when they said those bad boyz were big.. dang!

Nice MP15 picture! I was fortunate to stick around last year on May 17th in a rain storm and was rewarded with a short Q400 Northbound on the RF&P. The third engine was MP15AC No. 1188.

    Railfan,
I caught a few MP-15's, only I think some are MP-15T's an others are MP-15AC's... I just said that they were MP-15's for short being I'm sure of the cab number off the top my head on which is which so...

But I tell ya, the SD-80MAC #801 catch was something I wanted to do for quite awhile! It sneaked past me 2 times, an was coupled to a C60AC the first time I seen it, an I tell yeah it dwarfs the C60AC's in size! The second time it was coupled to either a SD-50, or SD-60, an then behind that was an SD-70AC, 3 unit lash up.

Then later on, like a week later, I seen another 80Mac that was in Conrail paint with the CSX yellow cab numbers, (sorry, can't remember what cab number tho! :( the size of the thing when it went past coupled to a loner SD-40-2 was simply amazing!) All 3 of these times, I was caught off gaurd with out a camera! But the 3rd time I wasn't, I got the picture of #800, an then exactly a week later (from Sunday to Sunday) I got #801. Both at Cumberland MD! :D :D Made me feel better! Since I was nail empty handed a few times, so, I made up for the 3 losses! :D
