...At Barnes & Noble, no less! And I don't normally find neat railroad books at B&N... 'The Great Northern Railway, A History' I haven't read it yet, seems promising--360 pages, lots of tables, b/w photos, and all for 30 bucks, softcover.
Didn't Hidy, and a couple of co-authors, do a previous GN history book? Late 1980's or so? Is this completely new, and different? Boxcab E50
Beats me.. All I have is Hickox's color guide, and a pair of GN 1945-1970 photo archives from Iconographix..
This is the scholarly history of the GN. Not really a railfan book, such as the ones by Charles Wood, but still a good one to have.
