Hi All Just received a Fox Valley Chattahoochee Industrial box, and on the doors it says..."I cost $30,000 Treat me gently". I thought that is a pretty cool detail to add, and its very easy to read. Three cheers for Fox Valley for making cool new N products!:we2-v_SPIN: Thom
I thought you were going somewhere else with this. My response was going to be and that's just the Hospital bill...wait till you get the Dr's Bill. Fox Valley is making a difference much as did Kadee HO products and Micro Train N scale products. How lucky we are in this era of model railroading to have as many fine products available to us. Kudo's to the newbie providers. Keep them coming. Enjoy!
I went to the Fox Valley Models website, and didn't see any of the cars with a 30-dollar price tag. Did you get a 2-for-1 special? BTW, their cars do indeed look awesome.
friscobob The lettering is on the doors of the boxcar I got from them. I did however get it from the "bay". Some pretty good prices on there for them:thumbs_up:
Ah, man... that door has one too many rivets on one side!!! It is unfortunate that some forklift operators either don't know where to place the fork so that the door can be opened or don't really care. The problem, though, is that the company that damages the door can and often is billed for the repairs necessary to fix the door (often a new door). I have seen situations where the shipper damaged the door and the consignee couldn't get the door open to unload the car... a costly proposition.
I had the pleasure of unloading a few boxcars back in the days when I was a forklift driver. Sometimes the only way to open those doors is with a come-along. Just put 1 hook on the door and the other on the side of the car and start cranking. Great job to have during the summer but really sucks in the winter. Craig
Oh...........Thirty THOUSAND dollars. The period (where there shoulda been a comma) threw me! In the words of Emily Littella, "Never mind...........":tb-embarrassed: And you're right- those care are really sharp! I'd like to see 'em come out with covered hoppers & tankers on down the road.
Reminds me when I was working in Manhatten and found that one of our occaissonal suppliers of rubber stamps would copy the unit/price field ($15.000) into the invoice price field 'by error', and sometimes the accounts payable dept would pay it as USD15,000.00. making it a pretty pricey rubber stamp. A quick check with the NYPD and I found out that they were well aware of his scam, but I never did find out what happened there.
