Does anyone know if there exists a CB&Q E8/9 "B" unit in N scale? I've looked and have so far not been able to find one or even confirm if one was ever made or even existed on the prototype. I did order 2 "A" units but they'd look alot sleeker seperated by a "B".
Never mind... I found a site that lists CB&Qs roster and apparently they didn't use the B units... Don
Don You're right.......the CB&Q did use EMD E-5 B units but the E-7/-8/-9's were ordered as A units only Roster info here (starting in the 9900 series) http://www.railspot.com/gif/railspot/msql/roster/CBQ04.HTM and here http://www.railspot.com/gif/railspot/msql/roster/CBQ05.HTM See E-9A 9981 below eNjoy Don B
E-8 and E-9 look alike to me, so would an E-9 B unit work for an E-8 "B" unit? I don't see that much different between the 7,8 or 9's. Would it be hard to convert an E-7 "B" to and E-8 "B"?
Watash, and Gang, E8s and E9s are very similar, the only difference EXTERNALLY is the headlight mounting. Internal the E8 had 2250 hp and the E9 had 2400. The CBQ did not have ANY Bs Except E5Bs and they didn't like them at all. They were hard to turn. As for the E7? Don't know what to tell you there. Take care Yall
Watash, the E-7 had a different grill arrangement to the 8/9's with 'chicken wire' grills over the openings, rather than full length Farr-style grills, and square 'portholes' in a (1-)2-2-1 arrangement. It is quite noticeable. Ex CB&Q E-7A Gary. [ 29 November 2001: Message edited by: Gats ]</p>
