IS there a free program out there that will allow me to write out my HTML and save as a Windows Explorer document? I have used Microsoft "Mi" on campus but I have no acess to it right now. Thanks. BTW...the new website: http://www.cperail.com (nothing there yet, but I do have the domain for 2 years)
Windows Explorer document? If you mean Internet Explorer, then save the document as a .htm or .html file. You can do this from Notepad if you're really keen. Otherwise, I use First Page 2006. It's free and is quite powerful with included scripts and has three levels of use - easy, expert and hardcore. Also allows you to preview the page in any installed browser within the program window. Also available is the previous version, First Page 2000. http://www.evrsoft.com/
There's all kinds of free software out there! www.openoffice.org has software that mimics the microsoft office products. It will compose html documents. I believe that if you download Netscape Navigator, you also get Netscape Composer; I'm a few versions behind so I can't swear to that anymore. If you have any old AOL CDs, those free trial things from version 5.0 or so, somewhere in the extras they have Frontpage Express. I kinda like that program precisely because it is primitive; If you use MS Word it writes a lot more code than FP Express, defining everything down to the width of borders and spacing between lines of text - way more than you need if it's just a quickie page with some pictures and captions. Your computer may have come with bundled software that will compose html as well, such as Microsoft Works.
I have been using 1st page 2000 for ages now, superb and very easy to use, I was not aware the 2006 version was ready, so just downloaded it.
