Mike: I use a Lenz system . You can set these values to adjust your loco. For a Digitrax decoder: Set CV 2 to 05 (start) CV 5 to 100 (max) CV 6 to 50 (mid) CV 3 is acceleration .. Set it to 10 range is 1-31 CV 4 is deceleration .. Set it to 15 range is 1-31 ON CV 2 CV 5 and CV 6 , the range is 1-255 You can adjust the values for each CV once you see how those values work. This will get you started. Have fun.....
Mike: You're welcome! BTW, CV 5 set to 100 will slow your loco considerably. CV 5 is the maximum speed for all your speed steps. CV 6 is the mid range speed for all the speed steps which I set for you at 50. You can adjust all the CV's once you see how the values I gave you work for your loco's. Each loco can be set differently depending on what you want to do with each loco. If you have a computer, you can use the Decoder Pro program to program speed curves and matchup's for all your loco's. Have fun!
Ok, can somebody please tell me in easy to read steps how to reset the CV08 to 08 (for a reset)? Please be specific... The manual sucks! Questions - do I need to enter the loco number before I start (or does it matter) - I tried to follow the manual... after completing all steps, the loco moved 1/4 inch on its own. Tried it again, it moved again (opposite direction this time) Guess I should say that my original problem is that the loco will erratically move (randomly jumping back and forth about 1-2 inches) on its own when track power is applied (no imputs, throttle at zero, and set to "brake"). The decoder remains cool to the touch. Funny thing is this was AFTER it make a few laps on my layout [ 07. August 2004, 16:04: Message edited by: nscale_lover ]
Mike: You have the decoder set for DC and DCC running. You must change CV 29 for DCC operation only and this will eliminate the erratic jumping of the loco when you turn on your system Plug in the loco address and enter it and then change CV 29 to DCC only.
When it ran the laps, it was on DCC... tried the cv29, no luck, the loco still jumps ( a bit worse now actually) [ 08. August 2004, 05:24: Message edited by: nscale_lover ]
Mike: This will happen if CV 29 is programmed for both DCC and DC operation. CV 29 must be programmed for DCC only.
right...I understand CV 29 is set to DCC only, loco still jumps (other 2 locos work fine) - I guess I'm sending this one in for replacement.
Mike: Try resetting The decoder to factory defaults CV 8 first, before you send it back. Look it up in the big decoder manual that Digitrax has on it's site for exact directions with your Digitrax system. You should download the entire manual from their on-line site. It is about 80 pages with 2 pages on one 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper.
already did both - printed out and tried the reset. Actually tried it a few times - no avail Making a call 1st thing tomorrow to tech support and hopefully I get a resolution (I'd hate to have to re-re-re-wire this thing, although I'm getting VERY proficient at it)
