How about a report on the Sydney show, I am sure one of you must have been there at some stage.

What was there, Any US or mostly Aust theme's? Was it a trade show, or a modellers exhibition? After Brisbane Paul, how would you rate it?

Well Mick, I tell ya, a lot of the same ole same ole if you know what I mean. There seemed to be less vendors than last year (kind of a bummer cuz I was hoping to get some deals, but alas nothing there that really tempted me to part with my money.)

    More Australian outline than US.

There was this WWII era layout. Now this one was a little out of the ordinary. The concept of this layout was that the large majority of the photographs from the time are black and white and much of what you think of when you think of WWII is in black and white they did the whole layout in Black And White. There was no colour at all. All the trees, tanks, trains, people etc were in shades of gray.

For about 5 minutes it was cool. Then you realize that there are thousands of volumes of research material and restored equipment that great pains have been taken to determine the EXACT colour of the original equipment. The layout concept is crushed at that point and you sort if wish it was modeled in colour. The modeling itself was very well done.

    Mick,
It didnt compare with Brisbane at all, as Rob said there wasnt many deals to be found and only half the layouts of Brisbane. I was there for a few hours but at that point I'd seen everything. Only that I had met rob there did I stay that long.

I was suprised however by the amount of people who were there it sort of gives you heart that model railroading is still living. I suppose it is a concern though that most people there were middle aged to the elderley.

    Paul,
After last year I wsa in no hurry to get back. I was successful in getting in touch with the Newcastle guys and it looks like the RD will be in Newcastle next August. We are buiulding a 1.2m extension to the yard with a tresstle bridge on the viewing side.
We hope to get another invite to Brisbane as well in May.

    I am glad I didn't miss much.

P.S. Have you seen gunna Cutmore around Sydney N lately? If you do, say hello to him for me. And say hello to the Nscaler as well. :D
