Went to your youtube channel and downloaded a lot of your videos. Lot of good ideas and I'll be very happy if I can duplicate some of them half as good as you did. I love the attention to detail and especially the bridges and trestles. I have a real fascination for those.

The one in the picture was a few miles up Dale Creek from a ranch that use to belong to a friend of mine. It is on the old original UP line between Cheyenne and Laramie, WY abouit 20 miles west of Sherman Summit and was built in 1868...

Later UP moved this part of their line a ways south of this location. I found the old trackbed years ago and walked it to where the trestle was located.

All that remained were some of the footings. I did find spikes along the old right away and think the track was moved south around 1900, so the spikes might be from the original UP transcontinental track or ones that were used later but before the rails were tore out. East of Dale Creek the present UP tracks marked the northern edge of his ranch.

Hope to see many more videos of your layout. Thanks for taking the time to put them up,

    Sumner

    Hi all,

I'm about to make the inner circle of the helix. Here are the first pictures of the construction site...

Love the snow-shed and all the rest of the detail. You sure have a knack for it :)

Do you plan on putting a lift-out section over the center of the helix. I see a mountain lake there with maybe someone fly fishing and a tent near the shore. Reminds me of backpacking into the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming when I lived nearby,

    Thanks Sumner
A lift-out section is not a option for me. As a viewer, only a small part is visible.

With that view I see you have it covered. Any idea how many trees are on the layout?

I might model the area around us even though there is only one UP train that enters it...

.... as all the red rock will mean not very many trees .

Is it ok to put in a YouTube link?
