This happened in Helena, Montana. A deer jumped off the I-15 over pass and landed on top of a boxcar in rail yard. I wonder what the guys climbing up the box car were planning on doing? These photos are from a guy named Jim Ratcliff.
Intermodal Migration BWAHAHA! Classic! Heading south, is he? :teeth: :teeth: Inter-modal transit, too, that deer's happenin!
I read elsewhere that the deer had a broken leg. The guys got him to jump off the car, but he broke another leg and they put him down. A couple of local bears who were not hibernating got a meal from the deer.
Sorry the deer had to be put down, but I sure hate to see venison go to waste (altho a couple of bears got lucky)
FYI- Helena has horrible problems with deer. The area is grossly overpopulated by them. There are not enough predators. And not enough hunting. Plus, people also feed them. Which attracts even more into town. Boxcab E50
Here in Meridian we have a problem with deer too. On my way to work you have to be careful or you will go and see the person at the body shop.
Yes, many people think deer are "cute." Until they get a $3000 body shop bill, or have trees in their backyard that are dead due to nibbling, or broken pickets on their fence, or... All of these have happened to me. I still like the saying, "I love deer, especially in stew." Eric
That deer sure has big ears. If the bear wanted the deer, I probably wouldn't argue the point. Are bears in the yard, too? This could be an exciting place to work!
Now I want you guys to know, here and now, that I sincerely believe that animals have rights!!!!!! Right from the field to the skillet to the dinner plate to my belly......... Had ya goin' didn't I??
Just remember my favorite organization: People Eating Tasty Animals
Deer population is a big issue here. Im not an avid hunter, but I'd had plenty of deer on the grill and in the oven this winter!
Anyone going to model this? You could put the picture up on the wall in the trainroom or on the facia showing the proto-type in Helena, Montana.
