Hi Everyone, I will be in Dallas for a conference next week (April 19- 23), what are some good hobby shops/train stores to visit (preferably near the Hyatt Regency on Reunion Blvd as I won't have a car)

    Thanks in advance

    Edward

The best train shop in the Dallas area is Discount Model trains in Addison Texas about 20 minutes north of metropolitan Dallas. It is worth the visit.

I enjoyed Discount Model Trains. I have NO idea how to get there without a car, but it might be near a transit line. It's down a little dead end near Addison Airport. It doesn't look like the right street at all and I was starting to get discouraged until I saw a little sign on a building indicating that it was there.

Unfortunately Discount Model Trains is not near a transit line and pretty much impossible to get to without a car. (or a private jet...hehe)

Another possible barrier...they're not open on Sunday, and they are only open 10a-6p on weekdays. So unless you can break away from your conference early or for a long lunch you will be challenged to get there during business hours.

If we can work it out, I could probably run you up there at some point...I'm not far from downtown and I'm always looking for an excuse to head to DMT. (and of course meet fellow model railroaders!) Either a lunch run or afternoon...we'd probably have to leave no later than 4pm to guarantee we'd make it up there...it's not too far but traffic can be a booger.

Thanks for the replies and thank you very much Doug for the offer, but I have received the agenda since posting and it doesn't look like I'll have much free time :-(

    Thanks Again
