Hi, am new here, and I have only been into model railroading for a few months. I am the social media director for IPMS Syracuse NY, and I went with the rest of my club to the NYS Train Show and got hooked. I have been building scale models for years, mostly 1/72nd scale aircraft, but now I find myself getting into N scale model trains. I have a very small apartment in Syracuse while I am finishing my Masters at Syracuse University, so space is an issue for me, I have allotted myself to a small corner of my apartment with the layout not being larger than 6.5'X3.5' Its been fun designing and experimenting so far, and I hope to learn more as a member here. I am originally from Chicago, and I would like to model the Chicago area in my layout, wich gives me lots of railroads to work with!
Hi Orionfield, Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board. I'm sure you've browsed the TB N-Scale forum with lots of photos for ideas and "how-to" discussions. Probably the best discussions are those concerning using a hollow-core door as the basic layout platform. The beauty of a HCD layout is that it's self-contained so can be taken wherever you decide to move after receiving your master's.
Welcome aboard and N scale is a great way to get a bunch of fun packed into a small space. Njoy and I'm sure you'll find lots of stimulating ideas here
Welcome to TrainBoard! It will be interesting to follow what you create. Modeling around Chicago is a popular setting. So there is plenty of good information out there.
Welcome aboard, Orionfield. You are in my old stomping grounds, the Mohawk Valley New York. I have relatives in Central Square, Fulton and Liverpool. Go Orangemen!
Hi Right Back At You! Good to see you on board here. Syracuse! Why does everyone from Syracuse have a small apartment? A. Easier to heat. B. Easier to clean. C. Easy on the rent. D. Hardly home to enjoy it anyway. E. It had a refrigerator. F. Not going to touch this one with a six inch pencil.
