Hello Forum members, I am Rico, 52 years old and often to be found on the internet under the alias Momfer. Now that my son (after years of building wooden train tracks) enthusiastically shows a fine Fleischmann H0 BR212 over the track at his grandfather's home, I took the plunge to get the N-stuff from behind the wall in the attic. The driving equipment is a mixture of the past and collected works bought at / around the turn of the century. The first (choppy) laps were driven on the Christmas oval, after which I started cleaning the oldies from my youth: the FLM 7000 and the FLM BR212 (both in possession since 1978). After cleaning I was not satisfied with the result, so I ordered motor sets (coreless) from Tramfabriek for the oldies. With these motors it is worth the effort to digitize A mix of BR and DR steamers and diesels will be used on the futere track layout. At the moment the fleet consists of 9 more or less capable locomotives: Minitrix: T3, V200.1, BR261/V60, BR89 Brawa: V240 Fleischmann: Lok 7, BR12, BR212/V100, BR91 I want to digitize the locomotives before creating the tracks. It is clear task, can be clearly defined in terms of time and will yield a lot of new knowledge. For the automation I will use the DCC ++ Ex (arduino) in combination with Rocrail. I will figure that out step by step. The motor shield is on it's way from China. I'll start with the installation of the decoders in the FLM7000 or the MINITRIX T3. Both oldies are easily accessible and good trial objects. The decoders of the oldies can be simple, so I'll probably start with LaisDCC decoders. I'm going to learn a lot from you guys and browse around and maybe I can contribute something here or there! Greeting, Rico
Hello Rico, welcome. I understand the father/son relationship for trains. Though in my case it was mother/son. My mother was a train (1:1) fanatic who encouraged me to model by buying her cousin's equipment when I was 12 years old. Please keep us informed with your progress, especially photos.
