    Hi to everyone
I am Andrew from Yorkshire in Northern England
I have been into trains model and the real thing for the last 50 years
I have a OO gauge layout called Inverugie based on a Scottish branchline the station was a few miles from the terminus at Peterhead I also own a few British O gauge items but rarely do anything with this scale
Since visiting Yreka in Northern California in 2010 for a month I loved the Yreka Western (so I should at this point say Hi to the very helpful staff of the YWRR that I met there) I also visited Oregon and the state Railroad museum at Sacremento hence I have started collecting HO models for a Yreka based layout I have just started with what we call the baseboards I think its the staging in the US so I will try to keep all posted with my progress
I have an exstensive collection of UK prototype Trains and Rails photographs my dad was a professional so cameras and film were always around in my younger years If there are any requests for anything UK pics or info I will do my best to find it for anyone
I will also try to post some pics of my modelling projects soon
Thanks to TrainBoard for a great site
    Regards
    Andrew

    Welcome Andrew!

Lovely area, Yorkshire! I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting the National Railway Museum in York. Magnificent collection! Anyone, any railfan, planning on visiting the UK MUST include the museum in York. It is adjacent to the railway line and the station so one doesn't have to go looking for it. We also had a look around the Cathedral and had a bite of lunch there. Had a good chat with the Vicar there. He filled us in on some of the history of the place.
Another bit of advice for railfans,or anyone for that matter, when traveling about the UK, many cathedrals and churches have small restaurants or cafeterias which are operated by volunteers in the church or cathedral. The food is "home cooking" and is quite inexpensive! These eating places are operated as fund raisers for the support and restoration of the cathedrals/churches. You can obtain a guide to them from the British Tourism board.
The UK is a railfan's paradise not only for the current operations, but there are many restoration groups operating historic rolling stock on preserved railway lines not served by BritRail companies.

Great to have you along, Andrew. With a half Scot background, I'd be interested in seeing some of your Scottish prototype work!

Hi Andrew, Welcome to the TrainBoard. Looking forward to seeing your creations. I've always enjoyed seeing the UK approach to modeling, it's so different from most US creations.

Welcome aboard, Andrew. The Yreka Western is a favorite of mine, too. Did you meet our own Ironhorseman while there?

Hi Andrew, and welcome to Trainboard.
It's amazing to see someone from across the pond interested in the YWRR. I started working there as a volunteer in 1988; first as a 'gopher' and then through the years I was the engineer on the Blue Goose steam locomotive, until I retired a couple of years ago. I doubt I was there when you visited, but it's possible.
Sadly, the YW is being dismantled for scrap, rail-by-rail, and it is doubtful a train will ever travel the route between Yreka and the Timber Product Mill again. Hopefully, I am wrong about that. All it would take is someone who loves railroading, (especially steam locomotives) and of course ... a boatload of money! :eek:/
If there's any question(s) or assistance I can help you with regarding the YWRR, don't hesitate to PM me.
    Again ... welcome to Trainboard.
