The last couple times i logged in I've been alerted by my Malware. THREAT DETECTED !!! This may not be the correct place to post this, but it's where I always go, ya' know ??? Just wanna' let you know !!!
I've noted the same issues with my computer. I didn't want to be the one to say anything since my software cleans it up. After using the anti-malware/spyware software and then log back into Trainboard... check the anti-malware/spyware and I get issues again.
I have three excellent systems running on my computer that grab something in a flash or alert me warning to not go there. So far I have had nothing and no issues.
Moved to Support as a better placement. For those with this issue - could you let us know which software is giving the alert? This could be a big help in diagnosing.
We need to know what software. We need to know what the alert is. We can't even begin to look, with nothing to go on. It's like a haystack with no needle at all. A note here: We have seen many a false alarm in the past. My anti-virus has several times, randomly and falsely alerted me to the software I am using (factory) for my printer!
One issue does seem to keep resurfacing however. For the third weekend in a row I have experienced connectivity issues with Trainboard to the point that it takes multiple tries just to get on. Running my diagnostics each time has determined the connectivity issues to be on your end. It starts in the AM and gets progressively worse as the day wears on. Eventually I can't even get on Railimages which is usually the last to experience problems and go down. And if I am on it starts to take forever to simply post a message if at all. Has been starting either on Friday nights or very early Saturday AM and gets worse as time goes on. By Sunday I can't get on at all and usually by Monday the service seems to be restored. Either your host is overloaded or have some big technical issues that seem to get out of hand on the weekend.
I have been getting occasional threat messages, and it seems to be coming from the advertisements surrounding the forum. Our IT guy at work pulled up the log of the event and said something in the ad was trying to gain access to our network.
Lest we forget, between your computer and the facilities of TrainBoard, there is an entire global communications network. Which can also cause slowdowns.
Not sure if this is the answer you need. My Avast Free Anti-virus is coming up with the "Threat Detected" alarm. Did a scan and there were 306 items !!! When you guys hit, you hit HARD !!! Ha,ha,ha !!! I just hope this info helps.
And like most IT guys, he thinks every non-IT person is a computer idiot, and won't share specific with me. I will keep trying with him, it may be our best chance of finding out which of a dozen ads may be causing the problem.
AVG Freeware frequently warns me when someone (never identified) tries to add a "trojan horse" data-collection routine to my computer. I have no idea whether the malware is relatively benign (e.g., Google or an advertiser trying to track my preferences thru a cookie I've inadvertently authorized) or if someone is actively/maliciously hacking my computer trying to capture passwords. Since the warning is always accompanied by an ad to spend $$$ to upgrade my AVG protection, the cynic in me suspects AVG marketing...and the naive, trusting computer numpty in me checks to make sure I have the most recent update of the AVG-Freeware.
Tracking cookies are common. They show up frequently in "malware" sweeps as alarms or warnings. But do no harm to a computer itself, and do not steal any personal information. Just run your favorite maintenance program, frequently, to clear out the cache and such junk.
There are so many ways to place malware into a site. Boxcab is right, without knowing what file or seeing a log, saying that you have malware on a website is really a red herring.
