Well, as you probably guessed by my nic, I'm a big SP fan. I also am into BNSF now, mainly because of the history of the two merged partners. I am totaly confused though about the difference between Herritage 1, 2, etc. I looked at the BNSF H-1 web site and they all looked like great pumpkins to me..are they the same? (H1=great pumpkin)

what I need to know is, how many herritage schemes there are and where can I find an example of all of them?

I have pictures of some on my web site and I may have given wrong info about their paint schemes, etc. thank's

(this will help out other curious people too if we can give lots of info:)

There are only two heritage paint schemes. H1 and H2 is what I call them. H1 is being applied to all of the repainted standard cabs, with the exception of BNSF 960-1123. The most noticable feature is the dark BNSF letters on the long hood. H2 is being applied to all the new locos, and all the repainted wide cabs. Along with a ton of other features, the easiest to notice is the bright yellow BNSF letters on the long hood. You can see pics of both scheme on my BNSF Motive Power ARchive http://www.trainweb.org/bnsfmpa

    Hope this helps,

    Matthew

Thanks, I found an earlier post from way back on this same subject. I learned that the H1 looks similar to a great pumpkin? only with the yellow line separatating the green and orange, and with green BNSF on long hood?... and an H2 is orange and yellow wih green top and yellow BNSF on long hood. In Dunsmuir I saw the H1 and H2,(4) with small and large BNSF on the H2's.

That orange paint is really fading something awful on those units. They are going to have to repaint those units they way they keep going. Pretty soon they well be as yellow as the BNSF on the side of them. YUCK!
