Noticed an inbound (RR west)stack train up on the Hayford Siding(or whatever it's called nowadays). This is the segment of the former GTW RR main line running north/south from the former Elsdon Yard. This is now CN. The CN got their "backs to the fire" recently for under-reporting delays on their(former)E.J.& E main. They had started running stack trains a couple of years back. They did some significant trackworks and have had the rail grinding train up there on the Hayford. I live about 150' or so from the Hayford siding(which is on elevation thru my part of the city). Elsdon Yard is long gone. A commercial building now occupies the site where the roundhouse was at Kedzie Ave. When Elsdon was still in full blast, we would have several daily manifest freights go by here at speed. There was an ABS signal right at the end of my street,up on the main. My house used to really shake when those trains went by. Now we just mostly have a local to serve a materials transloading facility where the N/S alignment of Elsdon Yard was. I am guessing that I will see more stack trains now, given that business is improving and the CN wants to take some heat away from their transgressions. Charlie
