the section works coming on the section and the switches when coming out of the to the main is where it stops and starts again on both ends if it has to change polarity. At the switches it works fine both directions

    Need some more info like
    • What are you using for an auto reverser?
    • How big are the gaps?
    • Are the gaps straight across or staggered?
Could it be that the locos are snagging on something in the direction that is causing the problems?
Are the rail heads the same height each side of the insulator?
Can you adjust the sensitivity of the auto reverser?

Your diagram looks to me that you could potentially be spanning the whole reverse section if your train is very long. Not an issue if you are using plastic wheels on your rolling stock or you don't consist a lot of locos together. It will be an be an issue though if you are using metal wheels. Not having additional information on your problem its hard to tell.

the ar is dcc specialties ar
    staggered gaps
not catching on any thing it stops and starts when you are going in the direction of the the yellow arrow on both ends if it has to switch polarity but at the cross overs it works fine

Simplistically, you have just the diverging leg of the turnout as a reversing section, with no other length. How long is the loco that is stalling, is it bridging the distance between those gaps?

    Keith,
Are the gaps insulated? they should not be insulated.

Length of the train could also be an issue, what are the lengths of the various legs in the reversing section?
