Well here is the problem that I am facing. When I started this whole project I was going for a small layout to practice on before I moved on to something really challenging. I took this basic track plan from an Atlas book, and added a little bit to it. The layout is built on an old door about 3'x8', and the only room I have left on the sides is very little as shown in the Pic.
I had no problem with laying the track, wiring, ballasting. All of these come pretty easy, it's the creativeness that I have none of. I cannot visualize where anything should go on the layout, industries, buildings, hills or mountains, and roads. Any suggestions? I really need some help on this.....Mike

Well, since it is practice you can move things around without setting anything down permanately. You could put a hill on the upper left corner and/or the lower right. Place some small industries in the middle along the sidings. There would be room for a small town in there too. Maybe an engine facility around the small yard. Because it is on a door, I would not try to put a river or a creek because you would have to cut into the door skin a little.

I too was thinking about a hill on the upper left, but not the lower right. I thought maybe one day I can extend the lines on the bottom right onto another layout. I was thinking about a refinery near the bottom right, an ADM grain elevator in the center left. And obviusly the Train yard on the bottom left. I have no idea about any other industries, hills or roads..
