I'm trying to find a positive ID on two specific items on this GP35... First, what is the box above the turbo stack? I believe it's a rain cover left on after storage as opposed to a spark arrestor... can anyone verify that?
Second is the bulbous rear headlights (tail lights) any idea what those are? I'd like to model this loco... but the tail lights have me "flummoxed" .... I figure I'll decline on the rain cover.... if that's what it is.

    TIA

That's a spark arrestor above the turbo stack I am thinking, perhaps added when it worked on the Eastern Idaho Railroad. It's an ex-WP unit. Maybe a WP fan here can help on the oversized rear headlight casing.

My research says Turbos typically didn’t use spark arrestors and it’s not a typical shape.... I’ve also read that metal box structures were added during storage as rain covers, and after removing the lids, it was easier to just leave the box in place... hence my rain cover speculation. Just trying to confirm one or the other.

Thanks for the WP fan suggestion.... maybe I can try a post on their fallen flag site.

    Thanks again
