    Morning all
I am new to DCC, and would like to fit an ESU Lok sound digital + sound decoder into my Bachmann 2-8-0. I have read but not fully understood the booklet that came with the decoder so my question is, Do I need to remove all the fitted wiring and start again from scratch. Your help will be fully appreciated.

Hi, I read your question and never heard of ESU Lok digital sound until your brought the subject up. So you grabbed my curiousity and found thier website on Google. I found that ESU is a German based company that makes a complete system for trains. ESC has a system that provides both DCC and Sound all in one system.

There is another such system used here in the USA which I'm more familiar with which is made by QSI solutions which is also a all in one system the provides DC or DCC controls with sound which pretty much partnered up with Aristocraft.

Bachman has there own plug and play systems now which also Includes DCC, but they don't as of yet have thier own sound system to go with it unfortunately.

USA Trains tried a strange partnership with Lionel a few years ago and sold Lionel Train Command kits with converters to run thier G scale trains, but never really took off. Again it was a DCC system with no sound, you still had to buy a sound system which USA Trains partnered up with Phoenix Sound Systems to provide optional sound systems for thier locomotives.

MTH seems to be the only one that has it together in G scale, when you buy thier locomotives, they are all ready DCC and sound installed and ready to go. Only down fall is that you have to run them on AC power to get all of your sound features. As with any MTH you can also run it on DC power, but some sound features will not be available and this can put a dampner of running a MTH and another brand loco on the same track.

Anyway, I can't help you out on this one, but there is a forum just for this system which you can register for free like this board. Here is the web site >>>> http://www.esu.eu/en/forum/
