I can remember, as a child, watching a video of the SP 4449 heading to the '84 World's Fair. Neither I nor my father can remember who made this tape, or the exact title. Footage included the 4449 in the snow, behind a pair of "Daylight-esque" painted engines, the Daylight street running, a ride aboard a shay, and a musical interlude inside a Railroad museum with a fade out shot on a Daylight drumhead. I'm not sure of the exact museum, it's been over 20 years since I've seen the tape. I'm sorry for such a vague description, but I am trying to relocate this video, and possibly get a new copy. Can anyone help?
I do recall that Pentrex had a video, or two. Seems as though someone else had footage, but I cannot think of who that might have been.
I would guess it was originally done by Vintage Rails, absorbed by Pentrex. Wish I could remember the name of the guy who ran VR.
I just found an add in the October 1984 Trains for a video by Pentrex called By Daylight To The Fair. Could this be the tape? However, there is also a Video Rails tape called World's Fair Daylight 4449.
I recently got my hands on a copy of the Pentrex video. It does not appear to be the one from my memmory. It's still a great 4449 video, but not the one from my childhood. Now, the hunt begins for the Video Rails tape "World's Fair Daylight 4449" Thank you all for helping.
I will contact pentrex and ask. I remember another part of the video, a ride in a forrest, old logging railroad (Possibly Cass Scenic railroad?) being pulled by a shay. Does anyone have a copy to confirm my memory?
That sure sounds familiar. I will try to ply through my VHS pile and see if I have it, and if so , what the name is.
