Hi, Steve, and welcome to Trainboard. N-scale is a popular area here, so I expect you will be receiving several responses before long.

I am not an N-scaler, but am active in the museum and photo areas. Also, drop by the "More Than Trains" forum. There, I try to get people to look at everything else associated with railroading, so you might find some details you can use in your modeling.

Yes, you will find some very active and friendly Countrymen here! Although, I assume they are not awake yet, or they would have answered before now .... :D

    Welcome to trainboard Steve.
I am a N scaler. I usually don't post very often but always check things out on trainboard. You will find lots of help here for just about anything concerning trains. Good luck.

Thank you all for the welcome! [IMG] i like this forum already, all of the people seem very friendly, I have never encountered this at any other forum, except perhaps the atlas one, but for some reason i am unable to register there.

Howdy, Steve! Welcome to the shindig! I think people in this forum take extra steps to be pleasant and helpful. I know I like this forum a lot better than Atlas, and I will never go back to Train Orders again. [IMG] [IMG]

Don't worry, your fellow countrymen will wake up soon.

    Maybe! :D

    Hello and welcome, Steve [IMG]

One of your fellow countrymen is right now on a cruise ship in the South Pacific, and another is working here in England! But they are both from Sydney anyway :D

There are some more, but not sure about the Brisbane area. Anyway, have a look around, especially in the N scale forum ;)

    Hi Steve,

I'm a fellow young N Scaler in the Brisbane area. I've been modelling the Southern Pacific )1986ish - 1998ish) in N scale for the last 10 years or so.

The big local exhibition isn't until May next year and I'm not sure if there are any club shows before then. There is a national N Scale convention every second year. It was in Perth last year and is in Melbourne next year. I believe they're planning on returning it to Brisbane following that.

We've got a couple of model train shops in Brisbane that would be regarded as two of the best N Scale shops in Australia - Austral Modelcraft (at Nundah - I think) and J&J Hobbies (at Moorooka). I do some part time work when I can for J&J Hobbies - it helps finance the addiciton [IMG]

Hope to see you around the place soon!

    Hi james,
the exhibition is in may, that is good as i can save a little money and then spend it all on trains. I need more :D
I have been to austral model craft and j&j hobbies, and think theyre both great, j&j is easiest for me to get to, train and a short walk. My local hobby shop is in Ipswich, and although the people are nice enough they dont stock much in the way of rail models.
I have been thinking about joining a club too, but dont really know of any, i have been to the all gauge model railway club before, but as i recall it would be a little hard for me to get to.
    any help would be appreciated.
good to hear from a local modeler [IMG]
