hello all! just got into model RR due to a switch in careers. My background has been in law enforcement for 16 years followed by 5 years as a truancy officer at the local high school. I recently got laid off from that job do to budget issues. Now at the tender age of 51, I am training at the San Luis and Rio Grande Scenic Railroad to become a conductor. Have to admit the first time i stepped aboard a locomotive as we moved over the mountain at la veta pass I could not stop grinning from ear to ear! Man that was a blast! Anyways, I purchased a kato m2 oval/siding layout and have coming from ebay additional track/switches to expand and use as training aides. Have a very modest number of cars and engines. nothing really to write home about, but got to start some where right?. I should have got into the RR business years ago! No body wants to fight, spit, yell profanities or any of a number of other things that I use to have to deal with. Oh well, now I'm becoming a conductor and life is fun again! Look forward to meeting people in the know, making great friends and ask only that you please lend me your ears and all your wisdom for ideas and answers to lots of questions i will have. thanks

Hi, Welcome to the Train Board, we're glad you've come on board. I'm sure one of us can answer questions about your layout, so ask away. Good Luck with your new career as a Conductor.
