About 16 years ago, or so, I wanted to build a model railway. It would be in N gauge, British, and fictional in Yorkshire ca. 1942. I bought some Peco flex track, some Metcalf card buildings and made the plan. Then the space was needed for something else, and I never got around to building it. My plan has been sitting on the back burner for so long, I had almost stopped thinking about it, until two things happened - Rod Stewart showed his railroad model in the magazine (I'm a fan of his) and the Great Model Railway Challenge aired on local TV. My interest was reignited. One problem though... space. The spot for the old layout won't be available. The shed isn't heated. The attic isn't floored or heated, the bedroom is to small... *sigh* I can't build a small shed in the garden, because the garden is too small, and we rent our house. So, I decided to go with Z scale instead. One huge problem... the lack of rolling stock, locos and buildings that works with my original plan of Yorkshire 1942. I don't mind the tiny scale, I'm a tiny detail person anyway, but the trains! The buildings I can scratch build from card and photos, but what about the rest? Anyway... I guess that's all for now.
Welcome to TrainBoard! We have quite an active Z community, so you might drop into that forum area and try asking them for ideas on locos, etc.
