Hello, after some 25 years (or so) I've been attracted again to model railroads... mainly because of DCC and quite soon especially because DCC++. I own models in scale TT (1/120) which is much more popular in Europe than in US. My other hobbies are R/C flying and 3D printing. Thanks fro warmly welcome to your community!
Welcome to Trainboard. Interesting working with a scale so small. I look forward to seeing your progress
Hi Jirka, Welcome. We are glad that you are on board. My only knowledge of TT Scale was that of a company's club layout my father was helping build 70 years ago. I remember that it looked very small compared to the Lionel O-Gauge my brother and I had. Please share photos of your layout as you progress.
Thanks guys! First of all, English is not my native language so maybe I will have problems with the terminology... hopefully you will understand me . You want photos... As I haven't started with the landscape yet (I am rather interested in the electronics), I show you the bottom side: bottom side by Jirka posted Jul 17, 2016 at 4:24 PM My layout has 180x110 cm (70x43"). One hidden yard (3 tracks) with reverse loop, main track station with 3 tracks and side track station. 20 turnouts equiped with servos, decoders with Arduino according to Geoff Bunza's design. (Holders of the servos printed on my 3D printer ). Reverse loop electronics my own design (Arduino). Track occupancy sensors- suply current sensing with optocouplers, should fit to DCC++, will be processed by Arduinos. DCC++ with Ethernet shield is on the right side above the wifi router. Missing the main power supply which I am just changing.
Welcome aboard, Jirka. From the looks of the underside of your layout, it appears that you know your electrics.
Welcome aboard, Jirka! I like the look of the model you have as a profile picture, I'm assuming it's a Czech prototype? It is interesting to note that I have just recently read an article about the short lifespan of US TT scale recently, and now you bring it up here...I also recall seeing many railcars when I was in Iraq with "birthplaces" not far from where you probably live (Hungarian, Czech, Polish and so on) I will second what Fitz said, the wiring is so much neater than much of what I've seen before. Guessing some pre-planning went into it.
There is still a small US TT community around. I believe that 3D printing has helped keep the scale going.
