Hi I'm Andy and after years of reading and looking at layouts in all of the magazines, I've finally decided to try and build one! I've never built a model or as far as I can remember ever operated a model locomotive, but always loved watching the layouts they used to display around Christmas time. I have always had a vision of my own basement empire but reality isn't just a nice place to visit, so when I happened upon a plan for the Carolina Central II that was it! Small enough that I can actually see myself finishing it. Or as I have come to learn almost finishing it! Anyways I look forward to learning from all of you and I hope to keep a record of my progress, or lack of, in a thread on the n sale section! Have a good one! Andy

Hi Andy. Welcome aboard! It's always exciting to get started. The only suggestion I can offer at this moment is try not to bite off more than you can chew. Build your table, but try to 'finish' small portions at a time. That way you are less likely to get burned-out and you can discover what element(s) of MRR you enjoy the most. Post some photos of your progress as you move along. :)

Hi Andy, Welcome, happy to have you aboard. I agree with Bill. Lay down track first, loosely so it can be moved, or removed as you change your mind while you learn. That way you can always run a train or two as you sit back and think about your next step. Test your skills with one small area of scenery at a time, being prepared to rip it up, or change what didn't turn out the way you had in mind. Remember, a layout is never finished, and "failure is always an option"...thank you Mythbusters. ;)
