Hello, my name is Gaylord. I was formerly an HO Model Railroader, but about 15 years ago I changed to G Scale starting with an LGB Steamer kit; a 20232 2-4-0 Steamer with two passenger cars. I've now got a lot more rolling stock, including several 0-4-0 LGB units ( Shoema, Furka Oberalp, Stainz, etc) and USA Trains EMD GP-7/9 and EMD F3 A/B in Boston and Main colors. I have about 30 box, tank and flat cars as well. My layout is done with LGB track and is around the walls of a second floor room of 24 X 20 feet with close to 150 feet of track. Due to budgetary concerns I'm slow to convert to DCC preferring at this time to use DC from a Dual DC power supply built from Internet plans. My interest in Model Railroads was sparked many years ago by the marvelous Model Railroad that was built in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, where I was born. That was a "Q" scale railroad built by a man called Minton Cronkheit. He used 1/48 "O" scale with several hundred feed of actual 1/48 width "Q" on all hand-layed track I hope to learn much here by lurking and contributing when I'm able. Thanks for listening.
I've visited the current incarnation of MSI's layout, but the original must have been a sight. Welcome aboard and enjoy!
Hi Gaylord, welcome, glad to have you on board. Thanks for mentioning the original museum layout. I remember it as being fantastic when I saw it 60+ years ago.
