Hi to all on this forum. I was recommended this site from other club members. I am in Brisbane Australia. My wife and I have been involved in Garden Railroading since 2000 and have 2 layouts. My wife's layout is named Fantasy and Imagination Railway Yard (F.A.I.R.Y.). This layout is 100 metres in length and is raised at 850mm. It runs through our garden and is a basic folding 'dog bone' with 2 passing sidings. It is power through the rails at 24v. - 10amps. I am allowed from time to time to run one of my live steamers provided I clean the track when I have finished my run..........this is strictly enforce by the railroad general manager!!:teeth: The second layout is for live steam only. It is a double track with 3 metre radius curves, a couple of passing sidings and a marshalling yard with turntable. This layout is fully covered so that it is operational during inclement weather or in very hot days when fans are provided. This layout is named the Rocky Desert Loop. We look forward to joining in the conversations from time to time. regards to all, Spur42
Welcome to TrainBoard! Looking forward to your joining in, and chatting. It would be good fun to see some photos of your two layouts!
Spur42, welcome aboard. Like Boxcab, I look forward to seeing photos of your G scale operations, especially the live steam! Hmm, does steam swirl in the opposite direction "DownUnder" compared to the northern hemisphere?
I'll add my welcome to Trainboard, Spur. Happy to have you aboard. I love it when I hear about a married couple sharing the hobby!
Thanks for the welcome. I will certainly load up some 'photos when I learn how!! Does steam go anti-clockwise down-under you ask............I don't really know - it just seems to go straight DOWN......... regards, Spur42
Hi Spur42, Welcome. Your involvement with live steam prompts me to ask, were you involved with any live steam gatherings at Diamondhead, Mississippi, USA 10-15 years ago? The gatherings were international in scope with attendees from the UK and Europe, though I'm not aware of any from OZ.
