Howdy, My name is Jonathan Sparks but most folks call me Sparky. I am 58 years old and have started a n gauge train layout with my 10 year old grandson. All my wonderful years of electrical training and wiring this layout is kicking my butt. So I decided to come here and search for help. I know there is bound to be someone else who has run across the problem of isolating separate tracks so you can run two trains at once and tie the tracks together when desired to run only one train. So I will search and if I can't find anything I'll post the layout with isolation points. Thanks for a wonderful site. Sparky
Sparky- Welcome to TrainBoard! And thank you for becoming a Supporter! There certainly are people here who can help answer your wiring questions. If you don't find it already in message archives, do not hesitate to ask.
Welcome aboard Sparky. We're glad to have you. Thanks also for supporting TrainBoard. This site doesn't exist without folks like you who are willing to carry a bit of the load. Charlie
Welcome to Trainboard, Sparky. Hmmmm, in the aviation industry we referred to electricians as "sparky." I think I share your pain, having electrical knowledge, but then trying to apply it to a layout. I'm sure you will find assistance here.
Great to have you along, and a layout sounds like a great experience to share with your grandson. I know I've seen lots of discussions of "How do I..." on wiring and electrical work, almost always started by a question from someone. Jump in and ask the question, just be prepared to sort through lots of ideas!
Hey Sparky, Welcome to the TrainBoard, especially an N-Scaler, from a fellow Mississippian. I'm in Saucier, near the Coast, and would be happy to help you with any problems, including electrical. I've been isolating tracks and chasing short circuits since 1947. Hmmm...does "brokenpole" have anything to with the Broken Spoke?
Welcome to Trainboard, Sparky. I'm sure you will get all the help you need in here. Lots and lots of experience!
